Comfort vs. Fashion
I have never really tried THAT hard to be in style. I never owned a chain wallet when it was cool, I haven't gone through the Ashton Kutcher trucker hat stage...I DID own a snap bracelet though. So, I guess that I peaked at around 1991 when it was cool to wear them with those fake baby soothers around your neck.
In spite of this, I can respect most styles. And I respect the lengths of discomfort that some people are willing to go to. Women who wear stilletos, they have heart. And those skateboarding kids who have now decided to wear dangerously tight pants...I respect them less, but that's beside the point.
The point is, that it seems that throughout history, comfort and fashion have been in opposition. While some think that religion vs. science has been a major conflict, they are wrong. If you want to see something major, the opposition of evolution to creation is nothing compared to this:
vs. Comfort.
Until now, I thought that the two would eventually reach some sort of mutual agreement. In fact, I thought we were almost there. Men and women could wear jeans, sneakers were acceptable...times were good. And THEN

FASHION DISASTER@@!!!!11one
What are we thinking? How is this acceptable in our society? I have heard that they are very comfortable...that may be true. But, I will NOT give in. I can understand children wearing them I suppose...MAYBE people could wear them to the beach, or in a public shower. But that is not what is happening. They are EVERYWHERE!
Without any fashion sense whatsoever, society as we know it will break down. Soon it really WILL be socially acceptable to drape yourself in velvet. Worrying about what other people think is the only thing that keeps some people wearing pants, and the rest of us really really really want them to wear pants.
I counted these at the mall the other day, I saw over 40 people wearing them. Not kids, but adults. What is next? Will it be acceptable to wear them at work, with a suit?

The Professional:
closed top protects the foot and ribbed ventilation ports channel fluids away. looks good at the office, on a boat or peeking out from the bottom of your scrubs.

Please, resist this...I BEG of you! A little bit of discomfort is ok. Go buy some stilettos instead, guys too. I would rather see men in heels, than see them in these.

LOL, I totally agree with you, I WILL resist the crocs, but now I am completely expecting to see you in immunology on Monday wearing stilettos.
Love the background music, by the way.

(I.E., The music coming from the fish thing. I don't think I noticed it the first time)

I don't know if they will have them in my size...but MAYBE
Hahah, yeah. I just changed that movie to a link. It doesn't slow down the page loading/play music/scare Chris/steal bandwidth anymore

I'm sorry if you think I am less of a person for wearing comfortable footwear. I don't wear them just everywhere though. They are almost more like slippers for me but I will say they are great for the beach. Sure they don't look that great, but the comfort is there. I don't really care if they've become too popular in the last 6 months or so.
I do agree with you in that I have less respect for those skater punks that wear women's pants. Whatever happened to skaters wearing baggy jeans?? C'mon! Surely you can't be taken seriously as a skater punk if you wear women's pants. You would have been beat up in my day.

I don't think the problem is with crocs themselves. Some people can pull them off successfully, and they do fit with some outfits.
The problem is with people who allow their crocs to clash with the rest of whatever they're wearing. You know the type -- maybe they're wearing a grey hoodie, blue jeans, and hot pink crocs. When footwear is the most striking element of one's ensemble, there's a problem.
Of course, I can't say I've ever wanted to own any crocs myself.

I certainly agree that those are the UGLIEST things ever. 2 of my abu friends/ summer co-workers each bought a pair this summer and were trying to convince me to get them too. mind you, they are comfy, but I wouldn't be caught dead wearing them!

I was at a wedding this summer and a female guest was wearing white crocs with a sundress. Terrible.
I agree with you wholeheartedly on this one Trevor, although I have borrowed Becca's when I went camping--when the temperature is down, you can't wear flipflops because you have socks on and all that fabric between your toes is totally uncomfortable, and you want to be able to kick them off when you get in the tent and not worry about them getting rained on, crocs are just the thing.
Also, I slip on my dad's to take the dog out to pee.
But I would not wear them anywhere else.

I will admit that I do wear crocs from time to time. But you are right, they are pretty ugly and I agree with Ian and the clashing colours thing...mine are black btw. But they are comfortable and they are easy to slip on and off..which is a plus if you are in a hurry! In the office...i think that is a major no no!! I mean, my mom works and walmart and she isn't even aloud to wear them...what were they thinking when they said office?? Anyways... guy + tight, girls pants = sick! and not the cool kind of sick...like ew. But i will say that baggy jeans are just almost as unattractive in my eyes though. And I would also think just as unsuited for skateboarding...but i could be wrong...i'm not much of a skater myself.
