PS3

Well, the PS3 has been released as most people know. They are turning up all over Ebay for inflated prices. But I am pretty impressed by THIS auction. And by impressed I mean...well...not impressed at all.

Opening bid is $25,000 US, or buy it now for the bargain price of $500,000. He claims it is for the Red Cross (well, 75% of it is). Yet, I do not understand the comments he has received:

"I'm very proud that 90% [sic] goes to red cross. someone else is selling PS3 for $1,000,000.00 and only 10% goes to March of Dimes thats just sad."

"I read a previous statement from a woman saying her son wanted to put his ps3 up for auction because he was moved by your compassion."

"YOU HAVE MADE ME PROUD. MY 10YEAR OLD SON HAS ONE AND WANTED TO SELL IT BUT WE SAW YOUR DEAL AND HE DECIDED TO DONATE 75% OF HIS TO SALVATION ARMY HEADQUARTERS THROUGH EBAY VIA MISSIONFISH I HOPE YOU SELL THIS !!! PEACE"

"good luck on the sell, your doing a good thing."

etc.

Soooo, I guess he is pretty generous. I mean, if he sells it for $25,000 and gives 75% to charity, that only leaves him with what, ~$6000? So a profit of $5500 for the guy. Pretty generous...

I obviously think that it is good for someone to donate money to charity, but if you REALLY wanted to help the Red Cross (and not just make a profit) wouldn't you just keep the original $500 you spent?

How are people so stupid? How is the world in such a state that someone who is willing to profit $5500 is praised as a hero and example for 10 year olds everywhere?

Side note: Should people who type in caps lock be ALLOWED to have children? I don't really think so...maybe that should be my next post.

Anyway...if you have $25,000 to donate to red cross, maybe you should just send it to them yourself. Then at least you could get a receipt for a tax write-off. Because, sketchily enough, you cannot with this auction. I wonder if that means that he gets it? Generous indeed!

PS, The new Firefox underlines spelling mistakes while you type. Apparently sketchily is a real word. That is nice to know

Comfort vs. Fashion

I have never really tried THAT hard to be in style. I never owned a chain wallet when it was cool, I haven't gone through the Ashton Kutcher trucker hat stage...I DID own a snap bracelet though. So, I guess that I peaked at around 1991 when it was cool to wear them with those fake baby soothers around your neck.

In spite of this, I can respect most styles. And I respect the lengths of discomfort that some people are willing to go to. Women who wear stilletos, they have heart. And those skateboarding kids who have now decided to wear dangerously tight pants...I respect them less, but that's beside the point.

The point is, that it seems that throughout history, comfort and fashion have been in opposition. While some think that religion vs. science has been a major conflict, they are wrong. If you want to see something major, the opposition of evolution to creation is nothing compared to this:

vs. Comfort.

Until now, I thought that the two would eventually reach some sort of mutual agreement. In fact, I thought we were almost there. Men and women could wear jeans, sneakers were acceptable...times were good. And THEN

FASHION DISASTER@@!!!!11one

What are we thinking? How is this acceptable in our society? I have heard that they are very comfortable...that may be true. But, I will NOT give in. I can understand children wearing them I suppose...MAYBE people could wear them to the beach, or in a public shower. But that is not what is happening. They are EVERYWHERE!

Without any fashion sense whatsoever, society as we know it will break down. Soon it really WILL be socially acceptable to drape yourself in velvet. Worrying about what other people think is the only thing that keeps some people wearing pants, and the rest of us really really really want them to wear pants.

I counted these at the mall the other day, I saw over 40 people wearing them. Not kids, but adults. What is next? Will it be acceptable to wear them at work, with a suit?

The Professional:
closed top protects the foot and ribbed ventilation ports channel fluids away. looks good at the office, on a boat or peeking out from the bottom of your scrubs.
(Official Description)

Please, resist this...I BEG of you! A little bit of discomfort is ok. Go buy some stilettos instead, guys too. I would rather see men in heels, than see them in these.

Fish Cruelty

So, over at RTN Chris just made a post about how fish are cruelly dyed to make them more colorful. In comparison, I guess that is a fairly friendly thing to do. I am pretty impressed that a fish can come back from this. Mountain Dew + 9 Volt Bolt Battery =

Goldfish Movie

I have to say that I am pretty impressed. Whether you think it is cruel or not...that is amazing. This goes well with the pop theme from my last post I guess...
